Our next installment of the Bicentennial Speaker Series presents “Lies Told Under Oath”, a true crime program on the Pfanschmidt Murders of 1912.
Join Beth Lane, author and amateur historian, as she recounts the chilling tale of the Pfanschmidt family and Emma Kaempen, a country schoolteacher, who were brutally murdered near Payson over a century ago. This case shocked the community and left behind a legacy of mystery, folklore, and haunting connections that endure today. Beth’s book, Lies Told Under Oath, explores this tragedy in vivid detail and reveals how it became the story behind the “Haunted Tavern” legend.
