Ways to Support the Historical Society of Quincy and Adams County

You can make a difference in helping to sustain the Historical Society of Quincy and Adams County and preserve local history. You are invited to make history happen by becoming a member and providing support in many other ways.  Gifts of your time and financial resources are important to the success of our mission.

VOLUNTEER

We couldn’t do what we do without the support of dedicated volunteers. Consider using your time and talents to volunteer as a greeter, tour guide, or participant in educational programs. We also rely on volunteers to help with clerical work, museum exhibits, archival projects and research, and groundskeeping and gardening.

LEAVE A LEGACY WITH PLANNED GIVING

Leave a legacy and help us fulfill our mission for years to come with planned giving. We encourage you to discuss estate planning options with your attorney or financial advisor. Among the ways to give include making a bequest in your will, setting up a revocable living trust, or designating HSQAC as a beneficiary of your life insurance or retirement assets. Some planned gifts, such as a charitable gift annuity, also pay you income and tax benefits during your lifetime.

HONOR A LOVED ONE

Your financial contribution may be given as a memorial to honor a loved one who has died or as a tribute to a relative or friend for birthdays or other special occasions.

PROVIDE IN-KIND SUPPORT

We also value non-cash contributions from individuals and businesses, such as office supplies, printing, advertising, or other supplies and services that can help us save on preservation, maintenance, and operating costs. Other valuable in-kind contributions may include skilled labor such as painting, carpentry and restoration; landscaping and lawn maintenance; computer technology; and photography.

SPONSOR AN EXHIBIT OR EVENT

Sponsorship opportunities are available throughout the year -- either by sponsoring an event such as a history presentation, program or symposium -- or an exhibit in the History Museum on the Square, Visitors Center, or the John Wood Mansion.

HELP US WITH CONSERVATION AND PRESERVATION PROJECTS

We frequently need to preserve a donated artifact or document, but we don’t have funds available to begin the process. Your donation can help move those conservation and preservation efforts forward. An example of a current preservation project is the Schott Negative Collection which is being digitally scanned.

SUPPORT BUILDING MAINTENANCE & RESTORATION PROJECTS

Restoration-related projects and regular maintenance of historic structures and our Visitors Center are expensive. Upon occasion, the Historical Society has a special campaign to raise funds to make this work possible. However, the need is ongoing, and your financial or in-kind support is always appreciated. Specific projects may be designed for your donation, and naming options are available.

PARTICIPATE IN CORPORATE GIVING & MATCHING FUNDS PROJECTS

The support of local business and industry helps make possible the work of the Historical Society. Details about regular corporate memberships and special contributions for major projects are available. Sponsorships and naming opportunities are available.

Support the Historical Society of Quincy and Adams County by making an online donation now, by mailing in a donation, or by calling our office for details.
